Mexico City, Mexico, September 22, 2022 – Manchester City’s international charity initiative, Cityzens Giving, and Official Water Technology Partner, Xylem, are delighted to announce the growth of Xylem Water Heroes Academy, a worldwide initiative in ten cities utilizing the ability of soccer to deal with native water challenges.
Since its launch in 2021, Xylem Water Heroes Academy has engaged over seventy five young leaders and delivered vital water education to greater than 6,000 younger folks in five cities: São Paulo, Mumbai, Cape Town, New York City and Shanghai. The expanded community, which now also comprises youth-led initiatives in Mexico City, Buenos Aires, Cape Coast, Kuala Lumpur and Melbourne, aims to positively influence 20,000 more young folks over the subsequent four years.
Graphical consumer interface<br />Description automatically generated with low confidence” winautomationvisibilitylandmark=”true”><br />To mark the launch, Pablo Zabaleta and the Premier League Trophy visited the El Coyolito neighbourhood in Mexico City to satisfy Cityzens Giving Young Leaders who are utilizing the ability of soccer to unravel local water points.<br />Despite heavy flooding and rainfall, Mexico City is dealing with a water shortage. More than 20 million residents do not have sufficient water to drink for almost half the yearand one in 5 people have access to only a few hours of running water from their faucets per week.<br />This project will see Young Leaders from love.fútbol use specially tailored soccer video games to coach young people locally on accountable water consumption, as properly as the importance of safe water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH).<br />Zabaleta took part in a youth-led soccer and water competition and engaged in a Q&A session with younger participants, before studying a standard Mexican dance.<br />Reflecting on his visit, Zabaleta said: “Meeting the Young Leaders in Mexico City was an amazing experience. The method they are using football to teach kids about the importance of water is creative and galvanizing, and it’s great to see this distinctive initiative from Cityzens Giving and Xylem expanding to more cities. The Young Leaders are so engaged with supporting their group and to find a way to contribute in a small way was a privilege.”<br />As part of the exercise in the nation, Young Leaders, Xylem employees and fans from Manchester City’s Official Supporters Club in Mexico City additionally joined forces to repaint the El Coyolito pitch and create a water-themed mural.<br />In  <a href=pressure gauge ไฮ ด รอ ลิ ค , City within the Community coaches delivered training to forty Young Leaders in Mexico City, sharing experience and data in management, community soccer and WASH. This was adopted by a three-day digital Summit, connecting Young Leaders and Xylem consultants from all ten cities to share ideas on tackling water challenges through football.
“Climate change continues to threaten water availability in communities across the globe,” said Austin Alexander, Vice President, Sustainability and Social Impact at Xylem. “Xylem Water Heroes Academy harnesses the ability of football and young leaders to handle these water challenges and make our communities more resilient.”
Valeria, a Young Leader with love.fútbol said: “We want all the kids here to remember that responsible water consumption is essential, they usually should take care of it. We received training from Man City coaches and learnt a quantity of video games that train kids about water conservation by way of football. We are really joyful and thankful that Man City and Pablo Zabaleta visited our neighborhood.”
Later this season, City fans could have an opportunity to be taught extra about the five new Water Heroes Academy tasks and vote for his or her favorite younger water heroes.
